agile open southern california 2017: your hosts
Professor Hadar Ziv, is a Researcher and Lecturer in Informatics at the School of ICS at UC Irvine, with many years experience in both computer-science education and practical software development. He publishes regularly in academic conferences; an earlier paper defining the “Uncertainty Principle” in SE is considered influential in the formative years of Agile and SCRUM methodologies. He has worked as consultant for several organizations wishing to include use cases, requirements engineering, object-oriented analysis and design with UML, and corresponding test strategies in their software-development practices.
Professor Ziv teaches the Capstone software-project class for Informatics seniors, where students employ many of the same tools and methods to develop web-based and mobile applications for real customers. He was awarded UC Irvine’s Excellence in Teaching award in 2003. A recent paper in the CSEET 2010 conference describes some of the course-management and project-management innovations of the year-long senior design project in Informatics.
David Lokietz is the founder and a principle in Pleiades Management Group. He began his career in 1983 implementing financial and payroll software applications. Since then he has participated in a breadth of IT fields including custom software development, eCommerce, infrastructure, ERP, and CRM.

Woody Zuill - Organizer Emeritus
Woody has been training, facilitating, and coaching teams in the adoption of the Agile approach for over 10 years in some form or another, and he takes every chance he gets to speak at conferences, code camps, and user groups on Agile/Lean practices, especially regarding TDD, technical excellence, code excellence, and pair programming. He strives to continually learn, experiment, practice, and "inspect and adapt". Woody's mantra is "Engage and See" in the traditional Napoleonic sense, but without a disastrous winter campaign in Russia.
Although Woody cannot be a part of this year's Agile Open Southern California Event, he remains proud to be associated with our Agile Opens and invites you to attend for a great couple of days exploring the world of Agile Software Development.
Our local Agile community is strengthened by these terrific organizations.
The Southern California Agile User Group, since 2007. Once each month we feature a speaker on a topic of Agile, Lean, Scrum, XP, Ledership Agility or Organizational Change. Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month and held at on the campus of the Capital Group in Irvine.
Our mission is to provide the 5 Saturdays training and knowledge to people willing to build local communities populated with volunteer professionals who mentor students and expose them to a career in technology. As individuals, we help people and groups learn to innovate and discover solutions to common and complex problems. We also focus on teaching students important life skills.
Embracing change in San Diego
We’re a friendly bunch who love to chat/argue about all things Agile. Come have a beer with us at one of our monthly meetings. Agile San Diego is organized by June Clarke, Carlton Nettleton, and core members.
Our goal is to create a living, self-sustaining, Agile entity that provides people with inspiring new ideas about Agile to apply in their daily work, and fun opportunities to connect and network with like-minded professionals in the Santa Barbara area.
